I’ve just discovered a new type of always-on video camera that is both a dash-cam (with the aid of a mounting accessory to attach it to a car’s sun-visor or windshield) and a head-cam (using its Bluetooth-style ear-loop and ear-bud). It’s available on Amazon. It’s called the Looxcie2 and has these general advantages (among others):

• Low cost (under $200, much cheaper than previous dash-cams).
• Light weight (under an ounce).
• Compactness (about ¾″ thick & 3″ long).
• Convenience (it uses media-free digital recording and wireless “Bluetooth” video transmission).
• Neat accessories (including several magnetically mounted lenses that can be quickly swapped).
• Thoughtful hardware & software design.

It is will a heavy heart that we note that Monica Rawlins and Chris Buntenbah lost their 17-year old son, Riley, on January 7, 2012. ATLANTIC CITY, WYO.— In 1972, while camping alone in the Wind River Mountains, the young naturalist John Mionczynski, is convinced that he encountered the creature known as Sasquatch, or “Bigfoot.” Over the decades since, he’s searched for further evidence of a large primate inhabiting the forests of western North America.

In the minds of many, this placed him in that scientific netherworld populated by believers in crop circles, alien invaders and Bermuda triangles. But to cast him off as a paranormal nut would be unfair to one of Wyoming’s most interesting characters who in other spheres has made significant contributions to contemporary understanding of the Wyoming wilderness.

For those of you in the Sacramento, California viewing market - tune in to Fox 40 on Sunday, July 24th at 10:00 p.m.! AIBR Board of Directors Tom Yamarone and Bob and Kathy Strain hosted a bigfoot expedition with newsreporter Rowena Shaddox and Howard the cameraman. Although we didn't get a bigfoot to show itself, Tom was able to record two woodknocks!
